Phone/iPod Pouch - Pattern

Skill level: Easy - Beginner

.::Skills needed::.
.cast on.
.k1, p1 ribbing.
.stockinette stitch.
.bind off.

I made the "pattern" up myself (if it may indeed be called one, it's so easy). It's just simple k1, p1, ribbing and stockinette stitch.

The gauge really doesn't matter. You can pretty much use any size needle, and I'm not too sure the type of yarn counts for a lot either, if you just make a few changes.

I used size 8 needles and some acrylic yarn (worsted weight, I think? I got it from my grandma without any labels, so I'm not 100% sure what thickness/weight it is).

You do not need to use two strands of yarn. I just did so because I liked the way it looked.

Keep in mind the number of stitches you cast on will need to be increased depending on if you use one strand of yarn, the type of yarn/size of the needles you use, etc.

If you use two strands of yarn, hold them together the ENTIRE time, knit them as if they were one.

PLEASE NOTE: this pouch is knitted in one long strip and then sewn up the sides.

  • Cast on 14 sts with BOTH strands of yarn held together (if desired).
  • Work in k1, p1, ribbing for 4 rows.
  • Work in stockinette stitch until double the desired size, plus one inch (about 11" for mine) .
  • Work in k1, p1, ribbing for 4 rows.
  • Bind off in k1, p1.

Sew the 'flaps' of ribbing down over the BACK (bumpy side) of the stockinette (these will be the holes for the drawstring to go through, so don't sew the sides of the ribbing closed).

Sew up the sides of the pouch (I did it in mattress stitch, but you can do it any way you choose).

Pull the strings through the holes, and viola, there you have it.

Does that make any sense? It's the first time I've actually WRITTEN DOWN a pattern, haha.

I Might Just Have to Start Singing...

It's my dad's birthday today!!! But I won't tell you how old he is either. (;

Honestly, he's the best dad ever...And I wouldn't trade him for anything!!!! I love you Daddy, and thanks...For everything. :D

Besides my wonderful father's birthday, nothing much is going on. I have a really boring life. (: But I'll have pictures, either on my next post, or on the one after. Don't worry. (; I promise I will. Promise.

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!!

Today is my Grandma's birthday. But I'm not telling you how old she is. (;

I would like to thank her for teaching me how to hand-sew purses and pouches and bunches of other stuff. And also for putting up with me the whole time, haha. I was a silly little girl at times. (:

So, thank you Grandma!!! Happy birthday!! I love you!!!!! :D

I'm afraid I still don't have pictures or the blanket. :( Due to an unfortunate event, I have had to stop working on it for a while. I don't feel like taking a hour to fix it at the moment. :p But I will later, I promise!

So yeah. Nothing really happened today, I went to youth and watched a documentary on the movie "Faith Like Potatoes". It was interesting. It would be really weird if it wasn't based on a true story though.

LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) is amazing!! (:

Today is...

...Thursday, March 25th, 2010. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?!?!?...No?
Well...Neither do I. (:

There's nothing really to tell about the week. Not much going on. Although, today was a Bible study at my church, and I help my mom do the child care. So, something DID happen, I guess.

Still nothing worth telling though. We only had three kids, two "baby's", and a five year old. Oddly quiet...Nobody cried or ran around screaming. Fairly good day so far, actually.

Potato soup for supper...yuck. I don't mean to insult my mother's cooking, her cooking is amazing. I just don't like potato soup. But I DO love mashed potatoes with a ton of gravy! :D

Yesterday I rediscovered GIMP. I forgot how much fun it is to make graphics (computer wallpaper, avatars, signitures, banners, etc. etc.)!!!! I would share them with you, but I'm too paranoid. I don't want anybody stealing my stuff (not that they're good enough to be stolen, but whatever). I hope some day to get around to copyrighting my stuff...Just haven't gotten around to it yet. :(

Anyway, I guess that's all. Not much progress on any of my knitting. I'll have more pictures up soon, I promise! :D

A New Beginning

Remember that skinny scarf I was making? Well, I've decided to start it over. Why, you ask? Because. The edges were uneven...And I just wasn't happy with it. So, I've started it over, this time using the "slip first stitch on every row" method. It seems to be working okay, the sides are more or less straight, so I think it'll work.

I've also changed the purpose of one my knitting projects. I was trying to create a makeshift baby sweater/cardigan...But decided that since I don't have any experience, and don't wanna mess with measuring, I should just make it into a car seat blanket, since (according to my mother) it was the perfect size for one anyway. It's really plain, just stockinette stitch. I might post a picture of it later. (:

Oh, The Antics Of A Family Like Mine...(;

Hey everyone!! How was your Spring break?? I hope it was fun. I just got back from my grandparent's house.

-------

I had an amazingly awesome week. It started on...

  • Wednesday:
I went to youth at 6:00 pm, had pizza and hung out with my friends, left at 8:00 pm, went home for a few minutes, left to pick up my brother (Colin, age 18) at around 8:55 pm and proceeded to go straight to my grandparent's house.
At about 9:30 we got there to find that the Papkes (Aunt Beth, Uncle Vince and Jarrod, age 15) had got there "like, two minutes" before us.
We then went to the kitchen and talked for a hour or so. After that we (my brother Colin, my cousin Jarrod and I) went up stairs to watch TV.

  • Thursday:
We did that for a while...And then went to bed around 2:30 am or 3:30 am (I think :p). We got up around 10:00 am or 11:00 am and: played pool and cards and did stuff outside like driving the 4-wheeler, talking, and making delicious S'mores, until my other cousins got there, which consisted of: The Gilberts: Aunt Elizabeth, Uncle Roland, Cameron (age 12) Caleb (age 7) and Sierra (age 5) and their cousin on their mom's side, Skylar (age 13?); And another Papke with his girlfriend: Justin (age 20), and Lauren (age 19?).

  •  Friday:
We then went outside around 2:00 am so the guys could play football. They also played human jump rope with Colin. It was funny, hahaha. :D
After we went to sleep and woke up later in the morning, we did the usual eating, talking, laughing, playing, driving and watching.
During all of that, my parents came out with my brother's friend and girlfriend: Josh (age 16) and Zara (age 16).
We then continued to do the usual eating, talking, laughing, playing, driving, and watching. After a while Zara and my parents left, while Josh stayed the night.
That night was great, and probably my favorite out of the week. We played catch with the frisbee and football, played ultimate frisbee, sat around a big campfire, danced, and had tons of fun.

  • Saturday:
The Gilberts left. :(
We watched a kind of gory but pretty good movie called Ninja Assassin. <3
We did the usual eating, talking, laughing, playing, driving, and watching (of course :) and afterward went to the Soda Pop Shop in downtown Ardmore, got yummy shakes, left, went to Wal*Mart, got milk, soft drinks for Grandma and a Full Throttle (energy drink) for me. :D We then proceeded to go to KFC and get chicken, which was also where Josh was picked up.
After we were done stuffing our faces we did random stuff which I don't correctly remember the order of...But the activities were: playing pool (I think), sitting around the campfire (I think), playing Catchphrase (I think), and then played a 3 hour game of Apples to Apples, which lasted until 1:30 am.

  • Sunday:
We (meaning me, Justin, Lauren, and Uncle Vince) had a snowball fight.
And then everyone ate a smorgasbord of left-overs from all the previous days. It was delicious. :D
The Papkes left at around 3:00 pm. We left around 4:00 pm.

-------

So, all in all, it was an amazingly awesome week. I love my family so much, haha. They're crazy. (:

Well, spring break's over, everyone's gone or on their way home, and now it's time to try to settle back into my slow, boring life. :(

At least I get to see 'em again in June!

Be Back Soon!

Hey.

Nothing really important in this post, just letting you know I'll be gone from the blogging world 'till further notice. Just a few days, maybe. But maybe more like a week. We shall see. Oh, yes...We shall see. MWAHAHAHAHA!! ...heh. Couldn't help it, haha. (it's a quote from a movie, for those of you who didn't get it. :p) But anyway. Nothing's really happened since Yesterday, as expected, since my life is so boring and uneventful. :p But you shall hear some stories of my crazy insane cousins next time, so just be patient. (:

I wish you Goodnight.

And a merry Spring.

And now.

Farewell.

Until further notice.

This is my name:

Rachel

And now you know.

Spring Break

Hey!

I'm  afraid I haven't made much progress on anything this week, thus my lack of posts. However, I decided I shouldn't just leave you guys hanging, so now I'm writing this. :p

Alice in Wonderland was amazing. Not really like I thought it'd be, but it was pretty cool. :D The Hare and Mad Hatter were probably my favorite people, haha. Whoever played the Red Queen was good, too. (:

By the way, for those of you who haven't noticed, I now have some pages up at the top of my blog for easy reference to my current/finished projects. :D It took me a little while to put together, so I hope you like 'em, haha. (:

How is everyone?? Are you guys good?? Sarah...I didn't see you at youth!! You better have a good excuse, haha. Just kidding, I forgive you. :D

But, yeah. I'm okay, I guess, not sick or anything, so that's always a good thing.

I'm REALLY looking forward to Wednesday/Thursday when my cousins are coming up for Spring break. They live in Austin and can't leave 'till my Aunt gets off work, so they usually get here at like midnight or one in the morning. And then, on Friday, my other cousins are coming!! Ahh...How I love family. Haha.

That's pretty much it, really. Nothing much has been going on lately. How's your first day of Spring break been?? (:

Rainy Day...

'Tis a rainy day. I tried to get a picture, but our stupid camera decided not to work. :p

Today's going rather slow (as might be expected) which I guess is a good excuse to knit && crochet...But I dunno.  I have some ideas I'd like to work on, but I need yarn. Of course. But to get yarn, I have to have money. To get money, I need to sell stuff. To sell stuff, I need to make stuff. To make stuff, I need yarn. To get yarn...*sigh* Well, you get the idea. :/

I also need yarn to make stuff for people who have been expecting me to make stuff for them. Such as hats. Pretty much all of my friends (which is like 5 people) want hats, and my brothers want one too. But, alas, I NEED YARN. Ugh, it's a vicious circle. D:

I do, however, get about $35 a month (or so). But $20 of it goes towards my phone bill ('cause I'm actually responsible like that and don't make my parents buy EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING for me, and I actually WORK and EARN my money, which is odd for girls my age who are spoiled and get allowance and whatnot)...So that leaves about $15 to spend the entire month. Sometimes less. I can't just go around spending it on things like yarn, I have to at least try to use my money wisely. That is, however, hard to do.

...Anyway, let's go off to happier subjects, shall we?

Hm. Let's see...Happy...

Well, I get to go see "Alice in Wonderland" Thursday!! That should be pretty fun. :D I'm looking forward to that.

I guess that's all I have to 'report'...I'll try to post again in a few days.

It's Finished!!

I finished my cable scarf!!! Just a few minutes ago, in fact...And, yes, I DO have pictures to show you. :D

(I'm gonna cut the string off, don't worry ;)

My red shirt kinda adds a Christmasie effect to it, ehh?

Oii.

Hey y'all. How's it goin'? You good? Good.

Anyway, now that the pleasantries are out of the way...

I HATE UNTANGLING YARN.

It's absolutely horrible. :( It's not even normal yarn either. It's very confusing...
